After much wait and anticipation Google has released the Android 14 Beta 1 update a few weeks back early in April 2023. The much awaited beta release has been rolled out on Google Pixel devices to start with. As the beta version becomes more stable and easy to use, the android 14 will be rolled out to other android users waiting for the update. There has been a rumor that the upcoming Android 14 beta is expected to introduce some new and useful features that are currently being tested. Let’s deep dive and look at some of these features that will be released soon.

New Features Expected in Android 14

Lock Screen Customization

One of the features is lock screen clock customization, which allows users to customize the lock screen clock via the Wallpaper and Style section. Users can change the color and brightness of the digits or choose between dynamic and small options. Now every lock screen can have its own unique style personalized to your taste.

Single App Screen Recording

Another exciting feature is single app screen recording, which provides a more secure way of recording by allowing users to record just an app instead of the entire phone or tablet screen. This feature is expected to be useful for screen-sharing apps like Discord and Google Meet.

Lock Screen Shortcuts and Wallpaper Settings Updated

Lock screen shortcuts is another new option under Wallpaper and Style, which allows users to set a useful app or function on the left and right lock screen shortcuts. The Wallpaper and Style section has also been redesigned, with two tabs for Home screen and Lock screen, providing new options like a custom clock, lock screen shortcuts, and a toggle for showing notifications.

Minimalized Clipboard Overlay

The clipboard overlay in Android 14 will initially appear in a minimized way when the keyboard is open, allowing users to tap on a small button to see a full preview. Some users who are used to the preview on screen might not appreciate this, however, maybe we’ll just get used to the new clipboard overlay

Quick Settings for Font-Size

A Font size tile will be added to the Quick Settings feature, allowing users to adjust the on-screen text size. This will make it easy for users to change the font size on screens without having to go through the whole settings flow font changes.

Conclusion

While these features sound amazing and useful to have, most of these features are still in testing and may not make it to the next beta version. All we can do is pray that Google improves and stabilizes these features to release them in the next beta instead of canceling them altogether. We’re hoping to see most of these features come through to the final release, Android 14 is shaping up to be an exciting update that all users are waiting for.
